Compare this month’s contractor payout with last month’s
Add two payout files and see who was added or removed, whose amount or wallet address changed, and which addresses look like someone else’s.

What a comparison looks like
Thirteen invented contractors, August against September: the sample you get with Try with sample data. Three addresses changed, one of them to a look-alike of the old one, two people share an address, one network moved, and one bonus went in.

How to compare this month’s payout with last month’s
No sheet yet? Start from our payout CSV template: one row per contractor with rate, bonus, address and approval columns. Keep one copy per month and compare them here.
- Export both months as CSV, one file each, with a header row. In Google Sheets: File, Download, Comma-separated values. In Excel: Save As, CSV.
- Add last month’s file under Last month and this month’s under This month, or paste their text.
- Check the columns the tool picked: the recipient (or an ID or email), the amount, and the address, network and currency when the file has them. Pick a column yourself if a guess is wrong.
- Select Compare payouts. Rows that need attention come first, then the other changes; recipients with no change are folded away.
- Confirm every new or changed address with the person, through a channel other than the one it came by.
- Download the report or copy the summary for whoever approves the payout.
In Payclose, this comparison is part of every payout: see how a payout runs.
A payroll variance check for stablecoin payouts
A payroll variance check compares this period’s pay with the last one and accounts for every difference. When contractors are paid in USDC or USDT, two more things can change between months, and they matter more than the amount: the address and the network.
- Totals per currency. Last month, this month and the difference, for USDC and USDT separately.
- Every amount that moved. The change in amount and in percent; a change of more than 50% and a payout above 3 times this month’s median are flagged.
- Who joined and who left. People added this month and people missing from it.
- Where the money goes. Changed addresses, addresses that look like someone else’s, one address for two people, a switched network or currency.
It doesn’t do tax, exchange rates or bookkeeping. It’s the check before the money moves.
When to use it
- Before the payout goes for approval. Every difference from last month in one list, the risky ones first.
- When someone else prepared the sheet. Or edited it since you last looked.
- When an approver asks what changed. Copy the summary into the chat instead of explaining it.
- Before you build the payment. Then turn the sheet into a file for your Safe with the Safe CSV Airdrop file builder.
What it doesn’t do
- Match renamed people. Rows match by ID or email, or else by name: a renamed contractor shows up as one person removed and one added.
- Build a payment. Amounts are compared for people to read, to the cent. To get exact amounts in a file you can pay from, use the Safe CSV Airdrop file builder.
- Know every address you’ve paid. Look-alikes are found among the addresses in the two files. To check against a longer list, use the address checker.
- Look anything up on-chain. It compares files, not what was actually paid.
- Read spreadsheet files. Save an .xlsx or .numbers file as CSV first.
Your files stay here
Both files are read in this browser tab and compared there. They’re never sent to a server, saved, or kept in cookies or browser storage, and there’s no account to make. The page counts how many changes a comparison finds, never names, addresses or amounts.
Doing this every month?
Payclose does this comparison for you every month, before anything is sent: rates and addresses in one place, new addresses checked for look-alikes and approved before they’re paid, approvals recorded, and one batch transaction per network for your Safe.
Free during the beta. EVM networks, from a Safe or a regular wallet; TRON later.
The template works with this checker as is: keep one copy per month and compare them here.
Only need to check a list of addresses? Use the address checker.
Questions
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser. Files are read on your device, never sent to a server, and not saved: nothing about them is kept in cookies or browser storage. Close the tab and they’re gone. The page counts how many changes a comparison finds, never names, addresses or amounts.
Which file formats work?
CSV files exported from Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers or a payroll tool, with a header row. Commas, semicolons and tabs all work, and so do amounts written as 3200, 3,200.00, 3 200,00 or $3200. You can also paste the text straight from a spreadsheet. The tool finds the recipient, address and amount columns by name, and you can pick them yourself if it guesses wrong.
How is a look-alike address detected?
Address poisoning relies on an address that starts and ends like one you already use, hoping nobody reads the middle. When an address is new or changed this month, the tool compares its first four and last four characters (after 0x or the leading T on TRON) with every other address in both files. If they match but the middle is different, the row is flagged.
What else does it flag?
Changed addresses, the same address used for two people, a switched network or currency, missing addresses or amounts, a change of more than 50% since last month, and any payout above 3 times this month’s median. It’s a second pair of eyes, not a guarantee: always confirm a new address with the person directly.
Do both files need the same columns?
No. Each file’s columns are found by name on their own, so last month’s export and this month’s can name and order them differently. People are matched by an ID or email column when both files have one, otherwise by name, ignoring case and extra spaces.
Is this Payclose?
It’s a small, free part of it. Payclose is a workflow tool for teams that pay contractors in stablecoins every month: it keeps rates and addresses in one place, shows this comparison automatically, collects approvals and checks new addresses before anything is sent. It’s free during the beta: sign up at run.payclose.app.
